MTAC Sacramento County Branch Memorial Scholarship Recital

Guidelines and Requirements

Date and Time of the Recital: Sunday, May 5th, 2024 from 1pm - 5pm

Location of the Recital: Music Exchange 1537 Howe Ave Unit 206, Sacramento, CA 95825

Application Deadline: April 25th 2024.

Application is available online at https://www.sacramentomtac.org/memorial-scholarship-registration. Application forms need to be filled out and paid for by parents/guardians. Applications filled out and paid by teachers will not be accepted. Proof of age must be now be presented at check-in, instead of mailed. .

Entry Fee: $36 per student for all divisions. If participating as a group, each student pays $36 fee. Students will pay the registration fee online when registering for the recital. Checks from students or teachers will not be accepted.

Eligibility: An MTAC Sacramento County teacher may enter a maximum of three entries per division.

Repertoire: CM Level 5 and up. Students must bring one original music score with numbered measures for the evaluator. The same composition may be used in only ONE of the following recitals: Baroque Festival Honors Certificate Recipient, Memorial Scholarship.

Time Limit:

Division 1 (ages 11 and under): 8 minutes

Division II (ages 12 to 14): 10 minutes

Division III (ages 15 to 18): 10 minutes

For chamber ensembles, the average age of the players must be within the Division age range.

Awards:

Division I: $100

Division II: $150

Division III: $200

Up to three monetary awards can be awarded per division, per discretion of the adjudicator. The decision of the adjudicator is final.

Past winners will not be eligible to win again in the same division.

This event will be held in a recital format, with one adjudicator evaluating, with each recital lasting approximately one hour. The current COVID/Music Exchange protocol will be followed.

All the winners of the event is invited to perform at the Command Performance on June 10th at Kathleen Thyberg’s studio.

Dress code

Attire:

  • Knee length dresses, skirts or dress slacks and tops

  • Dress slacks and tucked-in, buttoned, collared shirt or sweater.

  • Coat and/or tie optional

  • No jeans, cargo pants, shorts, workout clothes, sports uniforms, t-shirts, tank-tops, bare midriffs, or tops that are low cut, backless, or strapless

Shoes:

  • Dress shoes

  • No athletic shoes, sneakers, casual sandals, flip-flops

Additional:

  • Neat clean hair, pulled back from face

  • Short nails

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT ADHERE TO THE DRESS CODE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM.
