Sacramento County Branch Recital Guidelines

Teachers must be members of the Sacramento County Branch in good standing to be eligible for participation in all Branch activities, including student recitals.

FEES

a. Performers shall pay a registration fee

b. Fee must be accompanied by a registration form

c. Fees will be paid by the performers directly to the branch, via online payments made during the registration process. Checks will

no longer be accepted from teachers as of September, 2022.

d. Fees are not refundable

SCHOLARSHIP

a. Awarded at Memorial Scholarship Recital

b. Awarded exclusively for the purpose of continuing musical advancement

Adult Recital Baroque Festival

Spring Fling Recital

Theme Recital: May the 4th be With You

REPERTOIRE

a. All music must be memorized, except for ensembles, and the Adult Recital

b. Repertoire must be standard literature (no method books, arrangements, pop, etc.) except for Fall Harvest Recital, Spring Fling Recital, and the Theme Recital

c. If multiple pieces are used, they must fit the time frame, by the same composer - a suite, same opus or collection

d. No photocopied music is allowed

e. In the event of duplication, chairperson must notify the teachers

f. The same composition may not be used in both adjudicated recitals (Baroque Festival & Memorial Scholarship). Pieces must be unique for each recital.

DRESS CODE - Performers' Dress Code for MTAC Sacramento County Branch Recitals and Festivals

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT ADHERE TO THE DRESS CODE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM.

Attire

  • Knee length dresses, skirts or dress slacks and tops

  • Dress slacks and tucked-in, buttoned, collared shirt or sweater.

  • Coat and/or tie optional

  • No jeans, cargo pants, shorts, workout clothes, sports uniforms, t-shirts, tank-tops, bare midriffs, or tops that are low cut, backless, or strapless

Shoes

  • Dress shoes

  • No athletic shoes, sneakers, casual sandals, flip-flops

  • For online recitals, shoes are encouraged but not required

Additional

  • Neat clean hair, pulled back from face

  • Short nails

  • Make sure to practice in your recital clothes and shoes

VIDEO TAPING / PHOTO TAKING

  • Recording is allowed for your own student only. No flash photography during the performance. Turn of beepers and cell phones during the recital.

Performers (and/or their guardians) must agree to all guidelines when registering for a performance. Registration forms must be signed by the performer or, if under 18, their legal guardian. Registration forms signed by teachers or any other party will not be accepted.
